highlights

What are highlights?

Highlighting is a technique where you lighten specific pieces of hair to create dimension, typically using foils but can also be hand painted.

There are different types of ways to highlight hair to create your desired look.

Full Highlights:

Covers whole head to create a more dramatic or all over lightening look. Can be evenly spaced out to have a more natural look or heavier in certain areas to create a bold look.

Partial Highlights:

More face framing look. Typically mohawk section on top of head and front of ears. Create a subtle change and focuses on front.

Mini Foil/Money Piece:

Front section of face only. Usually a bold face frame with very few foils. Can be dramatic or natural.

Babylights:

These super fine highlights are the most delicate and natural highlights. Smaller sections with finely woven of hair included gives a more natural all over lighter look.

  • All of these services require a glaze or color melt after. A glaze helps calm down unwanted tones that are usually exposed during lifting process. They also close cuticle and leave hair with more shine and softness. A color melt is when we use 2-3 toners to create different colors to a lived in look. Typically starting with darker tones and melting into lightest at ends. This also helps the grow out process a little more seamless and natural. Toner and Color Melt are also a great refresher in between color services and typically last 3-6 weeks depending on washing schedule.
